The Manufacturer: Ístex Ltd. is the main wool manufacturer in Iceland, with over a century of wool tradition behind the products. Their wool blankets are designed with narrative threads that weave together a modern sensibility of style, the artistic inspiration of a dramatic landscape, and the unique quality of Icelandic yarn.

The Wool: Icelandic wool has been crucial to the survival of Iceland as a nation as it provided both warmth and protection throughout centuries of harsh weather. It is also quite unique compared to the wool of other sheep breeds. The inner fibres are fine, soft and highly insulating, while the outer fibres are long, glossy and water repellent. Both manufactured and hand knit products made of Icelandic wool are extremely durable, lightweight and breathable.

Care: These blankets are hand wash or dry clean only, but due to the natural anti-microbial properties of non-superwash-treated wool, often a thorough airing-out is all that is required. If storing these blankets for an extended period, we recommend washing or dry cleaning before storage and then storing in an airtight bag or bin with cedar balls or lavender sachets. For spot-cleaning or full hand washing, we recommend lanolin-free Lopi Wool Soap or Soak, or lanolin-enriched Eucalan.
