It all started on a trip to Peru. While touring fair trade mills, Jimmy from Jimmy Beans, watched as sheep 'tops' would get sorted and the remnants pile up. Every year mills end up with thousands of pounds of leftover, high quality ends from the yarn they spin and dye for their various exporters around the world. These otherwise luxurious leftovers could easily get bundled together and thrown away. In an effort to save them from landfills, and to close the gap between high quality yarn and accessible pricing, Jimmy rescued the wool and alpaca pieces, giving them a second life and creating what we know today as Yarn Citizen.
Introducing Unity Worsted, a true embodiment of sustainability and softness! Unity Fingering is made from 100% wool, non superwash, and sourced from a fair trade mill in Peru. With sustainability at its core, these yarns are priced consciously too. Yarn Citizen believes that something good for the planet, doesn't have to be bad for your wallet!
