DK-weight Sandnes Double Sunday (21st) was created because of the popularity of holding fingering-weight Sandnes Sunday (28st) double!
Made with pure merino that is not chemically superwash-treated, yet is machine washable! The debut 14 colours of Double Sunday are a collaboration between Sandnes Garn and popular Danish knitwear designer - PetiteKnit. Here are our favourite patterns for Double Sunday, for babies & children and adults & more. These patterns are all either designed in Double Sunday or specifically list Double Sunday as a suggested substitute, but it can be substituted for many other DK weight yarns, just swatch to make sure you are matching the designer's gauge. And as the name suggests, feel free to substitute a single strand of Double Sunday in any patterns for fingering-weight Sunday that call for it to be held double; you will need half the yardage.
Double Sunday is a perfect base yarn; it can be knitted alone as a DK weight or held together with a laceweight mohair such as Rowan Kidsilk Haze or Berroco Aerial for a dreamy halo. (Note that if adding mohair the garment will have to be hand washed).
The merino wool for this yarn originates in Australia, and is guaranteed to be non-mulesing.

Detailed Care Instructions from Sandnes Garn: For machine washing, we recommend that all wool garments be washed separately on a wool program, to ensure the gentlest treatment. Due to the unique absorbency of the merino wool, it is important to centrifuge hand-knitted garments well before drying them on a flat surface, preferably on top of a towel. Never use a laundry bag when washing hand-knitted wool garments. This creates friction that can cause the garment to felt.
